These are suggested courses for students who plan to transfer to baccalaureate programs that lead to initial Texas teacher certification. Transferability and specific requirements can be determined only by the receiving institution. Core Curriculum Requirements (42 Credit Hours)

Communication

ENGL 1301 - English Composition I 3 credit hours. and
Choose one from the following:
SPCH 1315 - Public Speaking 3 credit hours. (preferred)
SPCH 1321 - Business and Professional Communication 3 credit hours.

Mathematics

MATH 1314 - College Algebra 3 credit hours. (or higher math in approved core)

Life and Physical Sciences

BIOL 1406 - General Biology I 4 credit hours.
BIOL 1407 - General Biology II 4 credit hours.
CHEM 1411 - General Chemistry I 4 credit hours.
CHEM 1412 - General Chemistry II 4 credit hours.
PHYS 1401 - General Physics I 4 credit hours.
PHYS 1402 - General Physics II 4 credit hours.
Additional 2 hours will apply to “Other Degree Requirements”

Language, Philosophy and Culture

Choose one course from the following:

HIST 2321 - World Civilizations I 3 credit hours. (preferred)
HIST 2322 - World Civilizations II 3 credit hours.
PHIL 1301 - Introduction to Philosophy 3 credit hours.
PHIL 2306 - Introduction to Ethics 3 credit hours.
SPAN 2311 - Intermediate Spanish I 3 credit hours.

Creative Arts

Choose one course from the following:

ARTS 1301 - Art Appreciation 3 credit hours. (preferred)
DRAM 1310 - Introduction to Theatre 3 credit hours.
DRAM 2361 - Theatre History I 3 credit hours.
MUSI 1306 - Music Appreciation 3 credit hours.

American History

Choose two courses from the following:

HIST 1301 - United States History I 3 credit hours.
HIST 1302 - United States History II 3 credit hours.
HIST 2301 - Texas History 3 credit hours.

Government/Political Science
