GOVT 2306 - State and Local Government 3 credit hours. Lecture/Lab/Clinical: Three hours of class each week. This is a survey of the Texas constitution and government emphasizing legislative functions, administrative organization, and the judicial system. It is also a study of local government, police powers, regulatory policies and agencies, and the relationship between state and national government. Close attention is given to voting characteristics, economics, ideologies, and political events of state and local importance. This course fulfills legal requirements for teacher certification in Texas.
