Medical Assistant, A.A.S.

The Medical Assistant program is designed to prepare competent medical assistants to meet the needs of an ever-expanding allied health field. Medical assistants are multi-skilled health professional specifically educated to work in ambulatory settings performing administrative and clinical duties. The practice of medical assisting directly influences the public’s health and well-being, and requires the mastery of a complex body of knowledge and specialized skills requiring both formal education and practical experience that serve as standards for entry into the profession. The goal of the program is to prepare competent entry-level medical assistants in cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. Application information and forms are located on the NTCC Medical Assistant Program website www.ntcc.edu/index.php. The deadline for  application  to the MA program is May 31st each year. Only college-level courses apply toward completion of this curriculum and the graduation requirements for the A.A.S.

Program Requirements


Core Curriculum Requirements (15 Credit Hours)


English: 3 Hours


Choose one course from the following:

Mathematics, Science or Computer Technology: 6 Hours


Choose two courses from the following:

Social and Behavioral Sciences: 3 Hours


Other Degree Requirements (3 Credit Hours)


Minimum Required - 60 Credit Hours
