A degree in health science covers a broad range of contemporary health issues and helps you develop the skills to follow a career in healthcare, social policy, health organization, or education. The health science degree will assist you in being able to: use health information and data effectively, understand and formulate health-related arguments, and evaluate health-related issues from a multidisciplinary standpoint.

Core Curriculum Requirements (15 Credit Hours)
English: 3 Hours
Choose one course from the following:
Mathematics, Science or Computer Technology: 6 Hours
Language, Philosophy and Culture or Creative Arts Elective: 3 Credit Hours
Social and Behavioral Sciences: 3 Credit Hours
Choose one course from the following:
Other Degree Requirements (45 Credit Hours)
Additional 1 hour from “Mathematics, Science or Computer Technology”
Choose 44 credit hours from the following:
Minimum Required - 60 Credit Hours
Note:
The Health Science, A.A.S. is designed to allow students to complete specific prerequisite courses for selective-admission programs - Emergency Medical Services, Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Technology, Nursing (both LVN and ADN), and Physical Therapist Assistant or complete the courses required for CNA or Patient Care Technology certification. Students should select the concentration corresponding to the program to which they intend to apply (see table below). Should the student decide to complete the Health Science, A.A.S. degree rather than applying for another program, the student should select the Health Science Concentration.
