CHEM 2423 - Organic Chemistry I
4 credit hours.
Lecture/Lab/Clinical: Three hours lecture and four hours of lab each week.
Prerequisite: CHEM 1412 .
An integrated study of the chemistry of carbon and associated elements, generally taken in the second year. This course covers bonding and molecular structure, nomenclature, conformational analysis, stereochemistry, nucleophilic substitution and elimination reaction mechanisms, energy diagrams, and synthesis and reactions of alkenes and alkynes.
