This is a suggested curriculum for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university. Transferability and specific requirements can be determined only by the receiving institution. Only college-level courses apply toward completion of this curriculum and the graduation requirements for the A.S.

Communication

ENGL 1301 - English Composition I 3 credit hours. and
Choose one course from the following:
SPCH 1315 - Public Speaking 3 credit hours.
SPCH 1321 - Business and Professional Communication 3 credit hours.

Mathematics

Choose one course from the following:

MATH 1314 - College Algebra 3 credit hours. (or equivalent or higher)
MATH 1342 - Introductory Statistics 3 credit hours. (preferred)

Life and Physical Sciences

Minimum of 6 hours (two courses from the following.) Up to 2 additional hours can apply to Criminal Justice Concentration Requirements.

CRIJ 1301 - Introduction to Criminal Justice 3 credit hours. (required) and
(15 credit hours required from courses below. Up to an additional 2 hours over six hours from Life and Physical Sciences requirements may be applied here)
CJLE 1194 - Special Topics: Criminal Justice Career Exploration 1 credit hour.
CRIJ 1306 - Court Systems and Practices 3 credit hours.
CRIJ 1307 - Crime in America 3 credit hours.
CRIJ 1310 - Fundamentals of Criminal Law 3 credit hours.
CRIJ 1313 - Juvenile Justice System 3 credit hours.
CRIJ 2313 - Correctional Systems and Practices 3 credit hours.
CRIJ 2314 - Criminal Investigation 3 credit hours.
CRIJ 2323 - Legal Aspects of Law Enforcement 3 credit hours.

Note: With the exception of CRIJ 1301, the following courses can fulfill the Criminal Justice Course Requirements with Criminal Justice instructor approval and cannot exceed 6 credit hours from the following course options:

CJCR 2380 - Cooperative Education - Corrections/Correctional Administration 3 credit hours.
CJLE 1384 - Cooperative Education - Law Enforcement/Police Science 3 credit hours.

Warning: It is possible CJLE and CJCR course credits may not transfer to an upper-level learning institution without that institition’s prior approval.
