MLAB 2501 - Clinical Chemistry 5 credit hours. Lecture/Lab/Clinical: Four hours lecture and three hours lab each week Prerequisite: CHEM 1405 or CHEM 1411 and admission to MLT program of department approval
This course is an introduction to the principles and procedures of various tests performed in Clinical Chemistry. Presents the physiological basis for the test, the principle basis for the test, the principle and procedure for the test, and the clinical significance of the test results, including quality control and normal values. Also includes basic chemical laboratory technique. Chemical laboratory safety, electrolytes and acid-base balance, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, enzymes, metabolites, endocrine function, and toxicology.
