BIOL 2420 - Microbiology

4 credit hours.
Lecture/Lab/Clinical: Three hours of lecture and three hours of lab each week.
Study of the morphology, physiology, and taxonomy of representative groups of pathogenic and nonpathogenic microorganisms. Pure cultures of microorganisms grown on selected media are used in learning laboratory techniques. Includes a brief preview of food microbes, public health, and immunology.  The natural sciences and allied health divisions of the college strongly recommend that CHEM 1406  or CHEM 1411 be the first course in the pre-nursing/pre-MLT sequence and be taken prior to enrolling in BIOL 2401.  The topics covered in CHEM 1406 or CHEM 1411 are foundational to the following courses:  Nutrition, A & P I, A & P II, and Microbiology. (Fall, Spring, Summer)

Note: Additional course fee(s) required.
