BIOL 2402 - Anatomy & Physiology II 4 credit hours. Lecture/Lab/Clinical: Three hours of lecture and three hours of lab each week. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 2401 with a final grade of C or better. Anatomy & Physiology II is the second part of a two-course sequence. It is a study of the structure and function of the human body including the following systems: endocrine, cardiovascular, immune, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive (including nutrition), urinary (including fluid and electrolyte balance), and reproductive (including human development and genetics). Emphasis is on interrelationships among systems and regulation of physiological functions involved in maintaining homeostasis. The lab provides a hands-on learning experience for exploration of human system components and basic physiology of the endocrine, cardiovascular, immune, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive (including nutrition), urinary (including fluid and electrolyte balance), and reproductive (including human development and genetics) systems. Animal dissection is a required component of laboratory activity in both face-to-face and online format. The natural sciences and allied health divisions of the college strongly recommend that CHEM 1406 or CHEM 1411 be the first course in the pre-nursing/pre-MLT sequence and be taken prior to enrolling in BIOL 2401. The topics covered in CHEM 1406 or CHEM 1411 are foundational to the following courses: Nutrition, A & P I, A & P II, and Microbiology.
Note: Additional course fee(s) required.
